Welcome to the Terry Kelly Review

Thank you for stopping by this little corner of the internet.

This blog is produced to examine the antics and behaviour of one Councillor Terrence Kelly.  A Labour man, an elected councillor since 1999 earning public money for his service to us, his dear constituents.  A man of integrity?  A man of unwavering character?  Well we shall examine that between now and the council elections in May.  Surely a man in such a lofty public office would always behave in a matter befitting his staus and with this duty to his contituents at the forefront of his mind and never do anything to embarass himself, his party or most importantly his public.

Cllr Kelly produces his own blog, a worthy read and much of his work will be examined here.  This is not a party political motivated excercie for the Tory party, the SNP, the Lib Dems or anyone else but an examination of a man's fitness to carry out his most important of duties, the representation of those who trusted in him to afford him his vote.  Indeed I would ask any reader not just to think about this man's fitness for election but the fitness of those who choose to nominate him.   In this case the Renfrewshire Labour party.

I shall start with an examination of an article produced in the Dailly Record regarding our Mr Kelly on the 11th November this very year.  The article is titled "Renfrewshire councillor brands member of the public an 'idiot' 'wannabee Nazi' and a 'racist' during facebook spat."

For me the  following section of this article really rung the alarm bells.

 ● Back in 2006, he dubbed members of the Mormon religion “morons” and “buffoons” and said he hoped God would “visit a plague of boils and locusts” on them.
He had launched the tirade against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on his website.
At that time, Douglas Yates of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paisley, expressed his shock and disgust at Mr Kelly’s attack on his religion.
● Then in 2008 he suggested – on his internet blog – that Britain would be better off if the Royal Family met the same fate as Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his family, who were murdered by Bolshevik revolutionaries in 1918.
● And in March this year, he hit the headlines again when he was accused of “smearing” council staff online.

The article also goes on to say that during this facebook exchange with an SNP supporter he referred to the other parties (this chap being a taxi driver and family man) children as "morons".

Surely this cannot be true of an elected official?  Surely no political party would allow such an individual to stand for re-election?  Surley those that nominate candidates would agree that the people deserve better?

Well we shall examine the above and more (yes, lots more) between now and the council elections in May.
